Yes, high performance training is about identifying the abilities needed to perform at a high level and then developing ways to improve them. Athletic success has always focused on training for cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, balance, and flexibility. However, training the brain makes sense as it increases the ability to process game situations faster while it is being played physically faster.
Yes there is. Reflexes travel directly through the spinal cord and do not involve the brain. Reactions are movements that are consciously made through the brain first as it processes the information it recieves. As the brain naturally gets slower with age and/or other factors, it is important to strengthen it through excercise. Reaction speed can be improved for individuals, regardless of their age.
Cognitive training exercises are designed to help maintain or improve brain function. Brain exercises have a strong impact on improving certain cognitive skills including memory, attention and problem-solving to improve sport performance. Some athletes can practice at high levels but sometimes have a difficult time performing during games or competitions due to feeling overwhelmed. By speeding up the decision making process, it helps to slow the game around them down and helps increase confidence to perform at higher levels.
The impact of in-game improvement and performance will vary for every individual depending on their sport, age and ability. Some athletes will experience a difference after just one training session while others may need a few more sessions.
A common indicator is usually that the game begins to slow down around them and that they can process situations faster to make the plays they could not make before. Many athletes will refer to this as having more time and space.
This will differ for all athletes depending on their sport, ability and the areas they are looking to improve. We are happy to work with all athletes to help them achieve their goals. We create different packages depending on individual needs.
